How do I book time?
Shoot us an email to booking@a-good.studio and tell us a bit about your project. Our regular hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 9a-6p ET. You can also give us a call at (718) 833-3766.
What’s your Setup?
We have two studios, each with its own recording booth and control room. The booths are sized for 1-3 people in conversation around a table, or the table can be removed if you prefer to stand. The control rooms accommodate an engineer and a director/producer at the desk.
Each booth is outfitted with two Neumann TLM 103’s, which feed into Lynx Aurora(n) preamps and converters. We record to Pro Tools, with an independent multi-channel backup recording to SD media for all sessions.
The booths are extremely quiet and treated for maximum absorption, with dedicated low-noise ventilation systems.
The interior walls are a very pretty and soothing green color.
Can I patch into a session remotely?
Absolutely! We can connect to pretty much any audio/video meeting app (Zoom, Skype etc.), as well as higher quality connections like Riverside, Squadcast, and other similar services. We have a webcam and a display set up in the booths for 2-way video feeds. We can also connect to Comrex, Source-Connect Standard, and even old school telephone phone patches.
It’s true! If you are self-funding an audio project — maybe you produce an independent podcast by yourself, or you’re making a pilot to shop around, or you’re an artist working in audio — you can book studio time for your project on a pay-what you can basis. Book up to 3 hours per day, and up to a week in advance, anytime between 10am and 9pm. You can pay whatever amount you wish, and no payment is required.
What’s this I hear about “pay what you can”?
How accessible is the studio?
We are on the second floor and accessible by elevator. There is a short step up at the front entrance of our building as well as a short step up into the recording booth, and we can set up temporary ramps in both locations.
Can you make beats?
Technically yes, but I guarantee you won’t like them.
1000% yes, and I guarantee you will love it.
Do you have coffee?
